    Underwood M1 Carbines Listed

In case anyone is interested, there are currently four Underwood M1 Carbines listed on the CMP Auction site...no other M1 Carbines at present. They all have about ten days left on the bidding, which currently stands at $901 at the high end, and around the mid to high $700s at the low end. They're being sold individually.

If you don't have a genuine GI M1 Carbine and want one, this is one way to pick one up. I have one so I'm not a player for now. I do keep an eye on the site now and then. You don't see M1 Carbines there too often but they crop up.

I saw that one, too, but I thought those were some kind of indentations in the stock. I want them all, but I have my M1 Carbine and one is "enough", sort of?

The price range in the bidding at this moment is $761 to $997. I wonder how they came across four Underwoods and nothing else at this time? Do they handle consignments from private sellers?

These are somewhere out of US Army inventory. However, you can rest assured that they will sell for well north of what a typical USGI carbine goes for.

I was going to bid on the tiger but some one just bid 1200 on it.

              Someone must really want it!

Hold the phone! One of the four has now been bid up to $1200 with 34 bids and ten days to go. It's an 11-43 Underwood, 1+ muzzle gauge, low wood, 2 rivet, Type III band. This is the one that appears to have some interesting grain in the stock. Someone is hot to get this one.

Too rich for my blood on an Underwood. Though if it stays at 1200 im very tempted to bid 1201 at the end....

The auction guns tend to go for crazy money.

The auction prices are pretty crazy, but at least it supports a good cause.

This is true. A lot of the stuff seems average, but the carbines really aren't, considering the provenance of ownership. Some whine and complain about "fairness", but the fact it supports such a good cause, they should really check themselves...more $$$ from the auctions is a great thing for what the CMP does. It ain't going to last forever.....

Update: The four all have 4 days and a few hours left, all expiring at the same time. The price leader is now at $1,354 with 43 bids. The other three stand at $1,026, $1,002, and $826. So you have over a $500 variance between the low and high prices at the present time. There must be something special about that high bid rifle; it can't be just the wood. They are all Underwoods.
