    Remailing service?

A friend of mine has a mailbox "suite" (which means it is a normal address with a suite number) in another state, where he gets his business mail delivered. If he doesn't make it out there often enough to collect his mail, he will sometimes pay them to mail his letters back to him.

So that got me thinking. If I purchase a mailbox "suite" in another state, can I apply for an 03 FFL to that address?

Next question, if that is legal, which I think it is, would it then be legal for them to mail my C&R guns back to me in CA? From what I understand, you can legally mail guns to yourself, and I don't see how this would be any different.

    Not for an 03.

    For other things, however...

Suites are normally for businesses. That is going to look really strange on an 03 application.

I assume this is for C&R handguns? You can mail them to yourself.. -=IF=- you physically take possession of them out of state. I don't think having the guy owns the mailboxes etc place forward them to you counts as you taking physically possession of the gun.

You are asking questions that would be more properly answered by an attorney.

Out of all of the above responses, I think this is the one you should be addressing. I seriously hope you are not trying to forward handguns into CA.

Well, since you see the idiocy of throwing out a legal question for a group consensus of a bunch of non-lawyers, I guess there isn't much left to say.

Do you have a residence in the other state? If your only presence there is at a Mail Boxes Etc, I expect ATF would take a pretty dim view of your plans.

If you notice, the "Address" section on your 03 FFL doesn't just say "address", it says "Premises Address"

FFLs should only ship to your premises address. If you try and have your premises on your license listed as a "mailbox suite" I would expect you to reenact a scene from "Deliverance", with ATF playing the part of Bill McKinney, and you the part of Ned Beatty.
