    mosinits under control

i am down to 5 mosins and have no urge to scout out big 5. i still like them very much. i decided that small details like stampings, country of origin make little difference to me. i was up to about 14 last year. i still have not shot my 1934 hex tula. i think 5 will cover what i need. the only models i have not owned are M-38 and a Finn. after a while getting basically the same rifle over and over got boring. i do enjoy shooting and owning the mosins i still have.
i guess this proves i am not a collector for sure.

Well, you should have branched out on the Mosins. Getting a 91/30 every time does get boring.

If not, then get a Mauser, Enfield, MAS, or somthing and you will get a new craving.

Mackman & Dumpy showed their Mosins at WEGC and it hs to be a very accurate rifle. I see Mackman hit 2 in the center, but the SKS still needs more work the windags pin is stuck and all I could do is hit high to the left about 2". Gotta figure out how to get that pin loose and I mean its tighter than a.........well Ill try get some penetrating oil I think that outta do it. That Moisin milsurp really goes boom, not pew pew pew .

I think Mackman is zeroed and ready for the 25, ain't tellin no mo

I somewhat agree with OP. I think getting the basics m38,m44, 91/30, M39, a sniper or two about covers it for me. There are just too many, and really my focus is on good shooters now, which I have. Mosins are great rifles, the Finn's are really sweet...oh what the heck...1 more Finn!

yeah, still think I need a sniper, an m38, and I suppose at least 1 finn. gonna have to get another safe though, which is unlikely at this point. trying to downsize some stuff to clear room in the safe currently. more mosins are the least of my concern at this point though.

I could probably go for one more Finn...not gonna lie.

I gave up drugs, playing in rock and roll bands all night, sleeping with loose women, and waking up hungover. Had to cut back on coffee, and now need to eat healthy due to my age.
I think I will stick with the Mosinitis.........

Yeah, I somehow missed dying at 25 like James Dean like I planned to, and old age and years fast/bad living took their toll on me too. And the loose women are now "loose" in ways I don't even want to think or talk about! Don't you hate it when that happens?

LOL... One more Finn he said... haha

I've been saying that for quite a few years and it never seems to stop. Just this month I went to the Vallejo gun show and had no intention of buying anything... then I saw a M-28/30 that I just had to have. Why did I have to have it? You can't have just 12 of one model right?

Friday a special Finn arrived on my doorstep... an M-27 made by VKT which is a 10 on the 7.62x54r.net rarity scale. I think I can stop, I just don't want to yet.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

                      5 mosins isn't a collection. Its a good start

totally agree though. branching out is the way to go.

Branching out and also improving existing pieces and selling off old pieces is also an enjoyable way to collect firearms. Lord knows I've been through three Gew 98s until I found one that I consider to be "ideal".

I agree with the branching out. Have a near death experience on a motorcycle and getting recompensated by the car drivers insurance company helped a lot with starting my collecting. With a couple of Molot PU Snipers and a half dozen or so Mosin 91/30 ex-Snipers to shoot. I branched out and picked up a M38 and a couple of 91/59's. I can't wait to throw some lead down range with them .. man those carbines are kool. I also lucked into a couple of M39's .. a '68 No Maker/Late Date Antique and a '44 VKT and they are awesome and feel very sturdy and just ... right. I would love to find a few other Finned variants. Right now though I am on a quest for a '54,'55,'56 dark red Russian laminated stock SKS and I just can't seem to close the deal on one ... the quest continues !

i have my eye on a sported model 1917 eddystone right now. i would never do this to a old C&R but their are plenty of them out their already ruined. so many 1903s 1917s mausers etc were sportied after WW 2 . if you think about it these rifles served their purpose long ago .sitting in a warehouse is no glorious ending. so many are being saved buy collectors for the future. to me their is a whole class on surplus rifles that have been sportied. i just wish people would seek out one that has already been tampered with. it is sick to alter a fine example of a C&R rifle.
