    Wanting a M44...

Does any one have suggested web sites or if they know of someone selling one? I would pref a european model (Russian, polish, ect)

(FYI - I live in the bay area and willing to pay for shipping)

Hey, if you find out, let me know. I already have a pretty nice Izzy '45 (ordered it a while back from AIM Surplus back when they had some in stock), but a couple of friends of mine are in the market for one, and I would love to add another one to the safe. They all started to want one at a range session when we were still shooting at dusk, and obviously that huge ball of fire coming out that commie boomstick is such a load of fun. I have a FFL03, so I could order several and then share the love after I get dibs on what I deem the best one.

On a related note, last night a friend was telling me his Polish grandma (back East) brought to the US her M44 that she got when she did her training over there. I told him a non-import marked Polish M44 is something he'd better make sure stays in the family.

I bought one from SOG and AIM. The best one hands down came from AIM. The 91/30 I got from them was mint as well.

I just picked up an all matching wartime production M44 from a local Calgunner and it is beautiful. They can be found but expect to pay for a decent one. They fetch almost 2x the price of a regular M91/30

AIM has been sold out for a bit. Southern Ohio Gun has 'em listed but you need your 03. $179.99.

Just pay attention to the Boards. Believe me with patience you will find some great deals. And hey check Craigslist sometimes. You get lucky there too. This year found 2 M38's all correct(stock, S/N) for $125 and $140. And also got a laminated Mint Russian M-44 for $150 off armslist. Sometimes you have to look other places too beside CG.

It sounds like you want one for the collectibility - which is good!

If not, and you just want something shorter than a 91/30, I know the location of a 91/59, built from a '42 Ishy with matching bolt and mag floorplate.
Unfortunately it has been stuffed into an ATI poly sporter stock, I think they are asking $199 but they do make deals on the guns that have been around for a while.

I'll be going by there soon and can check if it is still available, PM me if you want the info.

I was thinking of ordering up a T53 myself.

M44 are great! Dad gave me one when I was 16 for my first rifle. Will always have a special spot in my heart for that Mosin

I was looking on the Simpson LTD website last night, they have a few but Simpsons is a high end collectors place so they were priced way above market value. The T53s that everyone seems to have all came from the same batch and they look BEAT up, more beat up than I want to own, although the price is good. M44s are becoming more and more rare. I check the CG Market every day, haven't seen many lately and when they are posted, they are snapped up immediately.

JG has chinese type 53s right now which are every bit as good as an m44, albeit perhaps not as pretty, but available. paid 79 bucks for my m44 at big5 several years ago. if i knew they were gonna dry up i woulda bought 5 of 'em. m38s were the same way and dried up.
