    Yugo 24/47 VS Mauser 98

Are these Yugos copies of the rifles the Hun used in WWI? How do they differ?

The Yugo M24/47 rifles are refurbished M1924 rifles that they had originally bought from FN in Belgium and then later manufactured locally. The FN M1924 is based on an intermediate length Mauser action. The receiver is a little bit shorter, as is the bolt. The Yugo's based their M48 rifle off of this same design, but the M48 has a turned down bolt handle.

The Gew98 rifles that Germany used in WWI used a full length Mauser action. They also had barrels that were about six inches longer than the M1924. The rear sights on the Gew98 also had that distinctive "roller coaster" look to them. The K98 rifle that the Germans used in WWII was based on the Gew98, but with a shorter barrel, turned down bolt handle and different rear sight.

98k, M48, 24/47. You can see the family resemblence between the rifles. The M48 is a hybrid of the features of the 98k and M24
