    Question about firearms manufacturer

In looking for pirate-era flintlock pistols, I came across this site http://www.militaryheritage.com/muskets.htm

Brown Besses for half the Pedersoli price -- interesting. Low enough to be suspicious of the quality and even fireability, expensive enough to hold out hope.

Their replicas do not have the vent hole drilled, so they are not firearms. I expect being in Canada has a lot to do with this.

Their comments include quotes about how well they shoot. I discount the possibility of a blatant pack of lies from fictional customers, on the grounds that if the replicas truly were shoddy and unsafe to fire after drilling the vent hole, they would have been sued out of existence by now and possibly in gaol. Plus someone has gone to a lot of work to make up a nice web site and presumably nice enough replicas, and it doesn't seem reasonable they would screw the pooch on the last half step.

I have no problem drilling the hole myself or finding a gunsmith to do so.

Does anyone have any experience with their replicas, from either an appearance (non-firing as bought) or functional (converted to firing) stance?
