It is something of a coincidence that Jimja should post his excellent thread on the two soldiers and the Type 14 that was brought back on the same day that I acquired this Type 14 at the Big Reno show.
This one was made at the Nambu Rifle Manufacturing Company/Chuo Kogyo Production at Kokubunji under Nagoya Arsenal Supervision. the date '16.3' corresponds to March, 1941. I haven't disassembled it yet except to remove the grip panels and verify the last three digits of the serial number are penciled on the back side. The magazine does not match and I didn't get a holster.
Along with the gun I got a few rounds of WWII issue Japanese ammo. It's not the best one I have ever seen, but it is certainly not the worst. I paid $325, cash and carry, which I felt was a fair price.
