So if it is pre 1899 by serial number. Easily checked on the internet. He cannot have it shipped to CA anymore directly to his residence?

Been gone from there over 20 years now, but when I lived there yet, I could have received it to my door by USPS even.

If you can still do that in CA with a antique, (probably not) I sure would not go through hoops to get it there that are not necessary.

Can't you ship your own guns to your self? I sent my elk huntin rig to myself in care of my son, to Coeur d'Alene. I sent my Rossi to Taurus for warranty work, and they sent it back to me. PAX

It’s being shipped Monday.

I found a simple solution that puts no burden on my uncle.

I called a gun shop near him and for $50 they will pack and ship to me as well as take my CC over the phone. All he has to do is drop it off.
