The only thing I don't like about the m/96 is that the minimum range on the rear sight is 300 meters.

I put a tall front sight blade http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts...k-prod341.aspx and then a Mojo sight http://www.mojosights.com/sample-page/mausers/ on one of them (third from the top) so I can use the sights at shorter ranges.
    Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

I wasn't meaning to be rude with my comment, if I came off like that, apologies! Just some interesting history to add to the thread...

Yes, the Winter War was the Finns vs the USSR, but there was a Swedish volunteer force fighting on the side of the Finns, and the Finns did use Swedish Mausers as well, here's a gunboards thread on it

Perhaps our Finnish members can answer this: Is there any documentation of any of the 77,000 Swedish M96's in combat? To qualify, I'm looking for instances of "SA" M96's in the hands of Finnish soldiers used in combat, not just those used by the Swedish volunteers. There is a thread on the...

The Winter War is why I will never discount the Finns. They showed that they were made of bailing wire, wood and spit.

I did not realize that the Swedes fought with the Finns in the Winter War. I really appreciate you sending that information. Great stuff. I learned something here, which I always appreciate.

        Best to you.
        Six for sure.

I've noticed that. Does this AGJ sight take care of this problem? http://www.ebay.com/itm/172172820717...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Was this purchased at Retting? I sae it there and would have picked it up if I already didn't have other Swedes. It was funny how it was priced same as the basic 91-30's. I have been trying to decide if I want to add a Finn marked version to my collection.

I was so impressed with my Swede that I bought a Howa barreled action in 6.5x55 so I could use that as my hunting gun. I didn't want scratch the Swede.
I've been itching into getting some C&R rifles after seeing the prices go up. They've gone down some since sandy hook but the days of $79 mosins seems to be over. 7N1 goes for $1.50-$2 a round now if I even happen to find it.
Pretty crazy. Who knows how long it'll be until the political climate changes and new surplus stuff starts to roll in again. I don't own any C&R rifles at this point and don't want to regret it in the future.

Yes. I got it there and put $120 on it and I'm paying the rest when 10 days is up. :P

SVT...I've always wondered what the little white number sticker on the buttstock signifies. Several of my Swedish Mausers have similar (different numbers) on them.

They are evidence of arsenal inspection dates...When the armorers would go through the armories they would inspect the rifles, and place the tape with the year of inspection on them...

That rifle was last inspected in 1979 before it was eventually imported into the US back in the 80's

Yeah, it does seem hard to find an ugly Swedish Mauser.

I found one that was a real looker but ugly on the inside. Like a hot/crazy girl.
