Yeah the grip fin is way better because it has the grip fin in a pretty natural position. The MM grip does not feel as natural.

Monsterman + Magpul FCS
Testing the featureless waters. Haven't shot it so I want to see if this works for me. If not, I think I'm gonna try the grip fin from Exile as I have a MIAD grip as well.
I think the MM grip doesn't look as bad on a slimmer stock as it does on the A2. It makes the rifles looks back heavy.
I bought a second off of the website. Took me about 2 minutes with a file to get the grip to fit as the slot is a little small. The grip is nice but I notice that my thumb wants to naturally wrap around. I almost wish it had some kind of thumb shelf.Attached FilesLast edited by trackhazard; 07-09-2016, 5:41 PM.Leave a comment:

Really that is not representative of the facts and really is outright FUD. I have never had my SCR hiccup with any ammunition, and my SCR is an July 2014 build bought in early August 2014 and has seen thousand and thousands of rounds. It is accurate as heck as well.I have a shooting buddy that owns the SCR and it would not function with steel case or Freedom munitions brass reloads. We had to use new PMC brass which is a deal breaking in my book. Secondly, take down sucks. It's a pita to line up the rat tail into the tiny buffer hole. Thirdly, there is no bolt hold open. Fourth, the trigger is terrible, his pulled at 8 pounds and it is proprietary. The magazine release also can't be reached by your shooting finger which makes mag changes harder. The safety is the crossbolt style which makes it difficult if you are a lefty. The stock feels flimsy and you need to do a bit of filing for other stocks to fit. Lastly the pencil barrel heats up very quickly but if someone wants just the lower that's not an issue. Overall it is not worth it especially when my thordsen stock AR-15 has none of the above issues and the featureless mod cost only $100.

As far as the BHO and trigger weight those are early design decisions (BHO is not good for hunting) that were revised due to consumer feedback showing Ares is a very responsive to its owners and market. A BHO was added as an option, and the trigger was taken down from 9 to a very smooth and easy 4-5 lbs about six months after it came out with all owners of the first six months iteration able to sent it in in order to have trigger changed for no charge.
The type of safety it has is one of the most common and ubiquitous in long guns as well.
I don't even get your complaint about the barrel. Pencil and lighter barrels are very popular for a good reason, and if you don't like the package you can swap out the barrel with any and every AR15 barrel.
they are both excellent and superior alternatives to the actual longstanding, majority market share competition : the mini 14.
I have nothing against the thordsen,This has long been discussed at NYfirearms, and people who own both honestly point out they both have the same number of downsides, just different ones.Leave a comment:

Grip fin family. The grip fin is starting to become my favourite because it looks closest to a conventional rifle.

Just quit while you're not too far behind. This thread is for appreciation of featureless rifles. I've contributed quite a bit to this thread considering all my rifles are featureless and I've posted pics here to give people ideas. Your ridiculous attempts to try and argue are not needed. I already said I appreciated the fact that Ares created a rifle for those who face gun restrictions but it's just not for me. But that wasn't enough for you. You still had to go at it like you have something to prove. If you want to talk about someone that is having issues with reading I suggest you look in the mirror.Yawn.
Your deflections and strawmans grows tiresome. Ive read the marketing material and done my research on it. I know what the rifle is and isn't, an issue that you still seem to struggle with. It's ok, we know reading isn't your strongest skill set.
Now I've said the SCR is the best featureless option? Righhhtttt. Keep pumping out those lies! I look forward to your replies to see what I say next.

Yawn.I seriously suggest you actually look at the marketing material that Ares came out with highlighting the fact you could use any AR-15 upper on it. So saying that the SCR is not an AR-15 is disingenuous to say the least.
You seem to be focused on apology. Instead I'm going to suggest you grow a thicker skin and accept that your rifle is not actually the best featureless option out there.

Since I supposedly work for ARES now (thanks for the job, brosef!), maybe I can pull a few strings and have a manual printed up in red lettering to help you with those tricky parts like assembling the rifle. When you PM that apology, send me your address and Ill have one mailed out.

The SCR isnt an AR.
You also admitted the gun does not come with an LBHO. Saying you can just buy one when every other AR comes with one is ridiculous.
The SCR isnt an AR.
The trigger is also proprietary. What if I want a 2 stage trigger? What if I want to install my $250 Geisselle trigger? I cannot do that with the SCR.
The SCR isnt an AR.
If you are so sensitive you need an apology because I rightly pointed out your rifle is not the most amazing rifle in the world, then you need to suck it up buttercup. The truth can hurt.
Please cite where I said the SCR was the most amazing rifle in the world, I believe you'll find it right next a credible report of the same platform being unreliable. Go ahead, Ill wait.Leave a comment:

Thank you guys. I went to the store today and the store owner told us new bill signed on Last Friday states all the barrel shall not have thread, or it would be an AW. Then I was like " WTF" coz I just bought the FRS15 and other parts to build my featureless. At the same time, there were few guys at store also wanted to build featureless, and they were also shocked.Leave a comment:
