longest butt stock suggestion for an AR ??

Okay. Quick question. Just finished building an AR, and wanted to know what would be the longest AR buttstock? Ive got a 6 position mil spec buffer tube already installed, just looking for the longest stock I can find (or are they all about the same?). Second question, would any of the FIXED buttstocks be longer than say a stock STR extended out as far as it will go? THANKS

Do you want a collapsing stock?

If so take a look at the Vltor A5, it has a buffer tube that is slightly longer than a standard carbine receiver extension and also has seven positions instead of six.

according to magpul a moe carbine is 13.95" LOP extended, the str is 14.35" LOP extended, an a2 fixed should be around 13.5" LOP

using an a2 with a dpms 1" extender might be the longest option, even longer if you slap on a recoil pad

If you're just going for the standard AR stocks the venerable A2 stock is a nice long stock. Are you looking for just the longest standard stock or do you (like me) have knuckles that drag the ground and prefer something way longer than standard?

Edit to add: we have some customers with very long arms who use the A2 stock with our Hammerhead stock adapter. Adds 5.9" to the length of pull:

Hey I'm not alone! I thought everyone had their nose on the CH. Playing with a Magpul FCS now to see if I can pin it further back to get an increase in the LOP, fixed stock and still keep it stable/attached the the rifle.

For collapsible stocks the Vltor EMOD is longer than their other stocks but not sure how the length compares to Magpul or anybody else

Get the 2" extended buttpad for it.
Extend it all the way out (you know she likes it like that).

Ace Socom long model and then add the 1" recoil pad. Fully extended will give you 13" LOP.

I have this on a 6 position. It has removable pin to set the length you want in a 6 pos tube.

Likely to be capable of making it stupid long...... Mine is extended about 1" compared to normal rifle length.

Note, that the LOP will be adjustable by removing a pin, and moving the stock and reinserting the pin. It can easily be done at the range, but it's no regular adj stock with a lever....

With some quick- ROUGH measuring... I could probably set the LOP to about 18 inches max..... Would sure look funny....

I have to agree with SloChicken on the Vltor A5 and Emod stock, I have one and it's much longer than I ever need. Also the Emod is longer than the Imod so make sure you pick up the right one if you go that route.
