    AK47 furniture

Trying to work out if I even need to change anything on my wasr10. It shoots ok and any red dot worth having is worth more than the gun. It's like buying a 86 ford ranger in good shape and putting brembos and Bluetooth in it.

Am I just trying to turn it into an AR by getting all polymer or raily on it?

Do I bother or just start a new AR build and let the commie gun stay itself?

Leave it alone. AKs have lasted this long without them. I'm sure it'll be fine as is.

A AK is a great gun as is, simple , robust . It is and never will be anything else.
A AR is a better platform for tacticool. I do not like tacticool myself.

It's just an AK, why bother putting optics on it?

That said, the general rule of thumb for buying optics is to spend as littl as possible on a rifle that is capable of shooting the precision you want and then, spending as much as you can afford on quality optics. It is not uncommon for optics to cost more than the rifle it is mounted on.

I have run my AK's with both irons and with optics. I currently have a PA 1-6 with the 7.62x39 ACSS reticle on my SAM7, and a EOTech 512 on my SGL-21. The optics definitely help, but I also like shooting Irons. Personal choice...

You may just go back to using the iron sights anyway. I started with a RDS on my vepr, but soon figured out that I liked, and shot better with using just the irons.

You can get a PA Micro dot for pretty cheap and see how u like it. I have an irons ak and a red dot ak, I like alternating. The red dot is slightly more precise at 75+ yards. I am real tempted to get a cmr type scope to stretch out the distance, I have no doubt my aks are accurate enough to bang steel at 3 or 400 yards but I can't really see that far consistently very well with irons or red dot.

My AK has the midwest industries rail on it. I really like it.

Save your money for another AK. Then tactool that one. Gotta have 1 of each.
