Do you have sights? If so, get some mags and ammo and hit the range.

do a function test on the lower. check youtube. other then i just load the first few mags with 1 round to see if it locks back on an empty mag. after that i just shoot it. also clean the barrel and chamber

some people say check head space but ive been lucky and have not checked head space before.

others might have more info, but this is pretty much all i do.

If you haven't taken apart you BCG and lubricated it, definitely do it before firing it. Most BCG's do not come pre lubricated.
It'll also train you on how to clean it later.

If you pull the trigger and it goes click, there isn't much else to do besides lube it up and go to the range. I didn't take my BCG apart and clean it until I had my AR for over a year. Haven't had any problems.

Finished my 80% lower as a 20" varmint rifle. It's been done about 8 months even loaded up some heavy bullet .223s for it. Also bought 4 Ruger No1s that I still need to shoot. I'm determined to take some time in January and get to Burro Canyon. Gonna be a busy day .223 - 30-06 - 7mm Rem Mag - 300 Win Mag - 458 Win Mag. Should probably apply ice to the shoulder before I leave the range.

I did clean the BCG lube it. clean the barrel basically the whole entire rifle. just bought some pmags this afternoon too. what do you guys recommend for a good sight and magnifier? not too cheap, not to expensive budget.

The definition of "not too cheap, not too expensive" varies from one man to the next. I recently ordered a Vortex Sparc from PSA, which comes with a 3x magnifier and is on sale for $150 + shipping. I've heard great things about Vortex's customer service as well.

If you built the upper get the head space checked if you can. I've not done a rifle yet that has failed but you never know. Doesnt hurt to be sure either.

Other than than function/safety test the rifle and take it to the range and pop a few off. My cousin always ties a string to his rifles built or bought and takes them to the desert and shoots 5 rounds at about 10ft away with the string. Over kill to me but that's what makes him feel safe so that's his thing.

Again head space if you can, then just function and fire test it. Im sure it will go fine.
