    my wife asked me today

What happens to all of your guns when you die if this law passes. I thought it was a smart question for someone who knows little about the current gun laws.so if i die does my wife get my guns since the are communal property. From what i understand i could not leave them to a kid when we have one....

I believe firearms are the exception to community property.

Even though the guns are not transferable, the value would still be figured into the community estate in a divorce. In other words, since you would have no choice to keep them, you would have to give her something else or cash to balance it out.

You're correct, cant leave them to a kid. Some folks have thousands of dollars invested into firearms and accessories, are they really expected to turn them in for 50 gift cards?

Indeed. I know folks who have rifle collections that worth thousands or tens of thousdans dollars, some are with investment/collectable value...

I must be missing something here. I know of several situations where someone has passed and a family member(normally child or wife) inherits the firearms. Some have kept them and some have sold them off.
                          Don't panic bro.
