7.62x39 all the way. I have ASC mags that works well and I know people who have no problem with C-Product mags. Do not listen to the people telling you x39 mags are the problem. They are wrong.

The x39 round is still much cheaper. Yes, you can reload the 300 but if you shoot a high volume then it's going to be a pain in the butt to reload all the time. It's easier to just grab your case of 1,000 rounds and head out to shoot. 300 brass isn't common. Check the market place and see how many people sell 300 brass.

      7.62x39

not because one is necessarily better than the other, to be honest I really don't know that much about the 300s other than it in a fairly new cartridge.

not because I know first hand that one would be better than the other, I have shot 7.62x39 out of an AR platform but not enough to say that I have a lot of experience with it... no experience with the 300.

nope, I say go with the 7.62x39 simply because it makes a big bang and is cheap to shoot.

sure you can reload the 300 much easier than the other, but you might want to check the price on 1k of .308 bullets compared to a case of 7.62x39

if you are still unsure, you can always buy me the barrel/uppers and I will be more than happy to test them both out for you

.300 Blk is great in pistol length barrels, and of course suppressed. Not quite as powerful as 7.62x39, but the lack of issues makes it a better choice in an AR platform IMO.

get a 7.62x39mm model one upper and you will be able to shoot out to 600 yards accurately.

Since you are using the AR platform, I voted 300 BLK.

Since it's an ar I chose 300blk, that being said I'd prefer an ak in x39

For AR, 300blk. See bolt head design

To fit the case head, lug has to be thinner. Yes it will work and prob last for causal plinking, but why risk reliability and cost more to convert? With a little more, u can get a low end AK.

And IMHO won't convert 300b in a carbine, defeats the purpose. Pistol, oh yeah.

It all boils down to what your intended purpose is, if you reload and if you want to buy more parts/accessories. I don't have any experience in the 7.62x39 but I do have a 300blk, in a 10.5 in barrel pistol configuration. Good thing about the 300blk is you won't need to get additional magazines if you you don't want or can't afford to. If you don't reload the 300blk is pretty pricey.

Keep your 223. Then buy an AK or saiga.

                          Low availability/variety.

300 blk can be made out of 223 brass which is everywhere.

i don't reload, its on my list of stuff to get but i haven't gotten around to getting the stuff yet, so for now i'm shooting factory ammo only, and the cost of x39 is pretty appealing, which is why i'm having issues deciding which way to go, the x35 is pricey compared to x39. plus i kind of like the idea of going to a local store to pick up ammo if i run out.
