    AR Front sight base

    Hello all,

I got a bushmaster XM15 without the front sight post on the base. I am wondering what I should do because I want Iron sights and a red dot sight. Should I buy a complete front sight base or get a new handguard and add a folding front sight? What would you guys do?

Is it a regular gas block with the front sight tower missing, but attached with your typical taper pins? I had a VMatch upper that was like that. The gas block is installed then the holes for the taper pins drilled. It is not parkerized under the gas block.

You could remove it and use a clamp on gas block with a integrated front sight, such as an ARMS 41BL or GG&G 1297. The GG&G should be enough to cover the bare portions and the taper pin holes.
