    Making AR15 legal

Some of my shooting friends were talking about installing something in the AR lower, that requires a tool. Which would block the magazine opening, and turn it into a 10 round only firearm. Thereby making it California legal. Does anyone know something about this or where they just blowing smoke.

Read the Assault Weapon FAQ (in red at the top of the page). It will answer all of your questions.

In short, your friends are basically right.

      Welcome to the board...

At the top right of the forum, there is the FAQ regarding this in red.

There is a sub-forum in the Gun rights, political, legal forum dedicated to this topic.

      Hope this helps.

Depends, if you are talking Colt, Bushmaster AR-15 etc.. that were to be registered in years back, then no this will not make them legal if you did not register them. If you are talking non-listed receivers of current topic (Mega, Stagg, etc..), then yes pinning 10 round mag. in place is good to go..

Ted why do you post that AR15plus.com kit??? If anyone buys one of those based on your "recommendation" your reputation will be improved!
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

            It Depends

It depends which receiver you are working on.

Only the "off-list" receivers can be done this way at this moment.

I strongly suggest you to check our

From what I undertstood, you will turn your legal offlist AR (with all the "evil" features with fixed magazine into an illegal AW upon you take off your magazine for reload at the range. To avoid having any trouble, uou might want to open up your upper for reload just like having a FAB10.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
