No pics - sorry.
I had a problem with my WASR (refer to original thread here). After a few rounds it would not fire. There would be an indent on the primer, and a second strike would set them off. But, every round was like this. I was using Ulyanovsk ammo (just a side note - boxer primed cases worked just fine, because they are not recessed as far as berdan cases).
I had taken the bolt apart to find little metal disc inside of the bolt. The firing pin had pulled off a layer of metal on some of the primers, creating a metal disc. Some of these discs were pulled into the bolt, causing the firing pin to protrude too shallow for reliable berdan ignition. I cleaned out these pieces, and the gun would fire perfectly for about 15 to 20 rounds. Then the same problem would arise. I went through this same process several times, but the misfires would always come back.
So, now for the end of the story. I took out the firing pin, and sanded the face and edges - ever so slightly. I took it to the range, and fired about 100 problem free rounds
. I was using the same lot of Ulyanovsk ammo. I hope the issue has been solved, because I do not want to have to get a new bolt, check for headspace, etc, etc.
