Help Identifying Rifle

Hello all. I found a rifle left behind by a tennant. The best my girlfriend can do is take pictures, and tell me it says .308 caliber on it. Can anyone help identify it?

There are some exceptions to that though and California has forms to declare firearms. I don't know exactly what the law would be on an abandoned long gun left on his property though.
