I sold one AR...Not because it was a terrible gun...It was actually an awesome rifle. However, I realized AK patterns were more my thing. I kept my Daniel Defense but would I buy another AR again...Yes. Would I sell one to fund an AK...Depends on which one. I'll give up my Daniel Defense for a PSL with a 1970 date. Aside from that, I will save for more AKs...They are cheap. Just save for one....

That would be killshot44 I believe shooting out in Ione for the 600 yard matches.
I just put a new 21" barrel on my milled RPK for 'just such a thing'.
The 7.62x39 out of a 16" barrel loses stability after about 500 meters but with the added velocity of a longer barrel I think it's doable.
Now for some more trigger time with it before I show up.

Anyone up north want to meet up with me and show me how its done? Maybe with an AK
I agree that it's a humbling thing to watch. If you ever want to see it done, attend a Palma or high power match. Those guys are AWESOME.

Keep the AR and buy an AK or two then grab another AR and pick up a couple thousand rounds and make a day of it.

Back to OP, If you're going to to that, make sure you get a Russian made AK with a milled receiver and not stamped. A Russian RAK or Arsenal AK47 would be a nice trade for a basic AR15.
Complete kits with barrels USE to cost less. But that doesnt mean **** nowadays.

OP, Youre looking at $500+ for a real AK. An AK trade for an AR would depend on parts and condition of both but it doesnt seem at all unreasonable for a trade. Both guns are plentiful in the US but the AR takes longer to make therefore usually goes for a few hundred more but a real AK that is made well can also get a good price.

cscannonner makes a good point, you will save lots of money making an AK yourself but its not for everyone.
