below is the rifle i bought, mississippi auto arms was nice enough to install the bullet button for me before it was shipped over. with pistol grips, by law, you need to have the bullet button installed before shipment to CA or it is a federal crime. you have to chose between a detachable magazine or a pistol grip. one or the other

16" barrel is the minimum length you need, i got the 20".

recoil is nothing, i didn't have any problems shooting Sunday.

I am also a fan of Mississippi Auto Arms, I got my aftermarket parts for my Saiga, although it is 7.62x51. I enjoy the platform and have switched everything out to essentially a Dragunov that is all Synthetic. The platform runs phenominally and is easily reconfigured into essentially whatever you want to do with it. I am also an AK owner but Model 74. Essentially the same platform minor differences, but both platforms perform well in many different situations as well as conditions. I would recommend both, if you are in SD I would also recommend Direct Action Solutions. They stock all of the different AK variants including converted Saiga.

Thousands of rounds through my Mini-30's over the last 20 years. All brands of ammo. No problems. Accuracy is not as good as an AR-15 platform but on par with SKS's, AK's, Saiga's, etc. HTH c good

There are other rifles not mentioned such as the CZ VZ58, CZ 527 Carbine, Mini-30, Ruger Hawkeye and now Savage chambered their Scout rifle in this caliber.

VZ58 Czech. Not another AK, but striker fired. Get 10 round California version with mag lock or Kydex Solar Tactical paddle and fixed stock version for use with legal pre-ban high-caps. Sold my Saiga after I got mine!
