    MaTech rear sight too small

Who else thinks the matech rear sight is too damn small.

I have been thinking I will drill out the aperature to make it better adapted to lower light situations... it is after all a back up sight and I want it to work in as many situations as possible. plus coronel cooper says big aperatures shoot the same as small aperatures.

Anyone think I will be doing scriledge with my drill bit/

It's your choice. I like the aperture on my Matech just fine; in fact I'd like it to be smaller. Col. Cooper is right, except that it's harder to center your front sight in a large aperture when you're shooting farther out. I like to take my AR out to 500 or 600 yards with iron sights, so I like a smaller rear aperture. Remember: as long as you like it, that's all that matters.

The Matech is designed to be used from 200-600 meters for a point target and out to 800 for an area target. That is why they have the 0-2 sight on the carrying handle, for ranges from 0-200 meters. The 0-2 sight is larger for this reason. You are asking the Matech to do something it wasnt designed to do. If you shoot mostly in the 0-200 meter range then I'd buy a different sight designed for that purpose.

It's not a CQB sight..... it's designed to hit targets outside of your room. The Matech has the best aperture and sight picture IMO, especially with the narrow (non caged) aperture arm. If only with the lockdown and deployment of the arm involved something a little better engineered.

Agree. Why get a Matech for shorter work?

okay, so its designed for 2-600 yards, but most shots will be under 100, thinking all out war or survivalist hunting, and since it is a back up i am starting to think it should reflect how it would be used.
