Is 12.7x108 FMJ Russian legal in CA

The above link is for 12.7 Russian ammo belted for DSHK. I remember reading here that CA couldnt have this ammo because it was all API. What about FMJ ammo?

I am buying DSHK parts, ammo, belts, etc.. so let me know if you have any for sale.

I believe that the links are considered a ammunition feeding device and thus subject to the no more than 10 rounds rule.

IIRC AP ammo was banned from import not sale or possession. Incendiary rounds are a no go I believe. Nothing wrong with FMJ.

    I could be wrong though.

It would need to be broken down into ten round belts before shipping in. I have no idea if it's incendiary though. Have you asked the seller?

This is just regular FMJ. If it was anything more exotic, the bullet tip would be color-coded:

        Red bullet tip:
        Spotting charge, incendiary
Entire bullet red: High explosive bullet (on 12,7 and 14,5mm)
Magenta tip red band beneath: Armor piercing incendiary tracer
Black tip red band beneath: Armor piercing incendiary

BTW, 12.7mm is .50 cal, so no worries of it being a DD in CA, but the seller would have to split those into 10rd links before shipping. Relinking them in CA to create a belt more than 10rds which would constitute manufacturing a hi-capacity feeding device.

links are seen just as magazines so they are subject to the 10 round limit law,it would need to be broken into 10 round links.

And yes, the round is legal, as it is is still only .50 caliber....but NOT a John Browning invention (even though the Soviet case is basically a slightly larger version than the US .50 cal)

.50BMG ammo has always been legal. Only new .50 BMG rifles were deemed icky.

Now, if someone would just chamber an AR upper in 14.5 Soviet.........
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

that would be a DD. I could see a method in which you registered your AR-lower as a DD and then ordered the 14.5russian upper after you got your tax stamp.

I'd rather see someone chamber an upper in 14.5mmJDJ. That round is a necked up .50BMG round and has a DD exemption from ATF, so no tax stamp needed.

CA's DD rules don't kick in until .60", so no CADOJ DW permit needed for either option
