    ARMS S.I.R. setup

Can anyone tell me if i can use this SIR #45 unit on my STAG upper? and what is the difference between the M and C unit.

I want to setup my gun like this except with an EOTech unit vs the Aimpoint.

I have a STAG 1H pre ban upper that looks like this.

The first question is, is the length right? Can i pop off the plastic hand gaurd and slip this thing on with ease. i know i have to remove my handle.

The second questions is, will the EOTech even work on it functionally? i noticed that the SIR unit raises the rail up ever so slightly and by doing that, it takes the iron sights completely out of the equation. i won't be able to use them as backup since the EOTech sits too high.

    thanks

Any photo you see of an ARMS SIR system on an upper the makes you go "MAN THAT IS COOL" is usually an "M" version. The "M" version looks more streamlined because, as Ted mentioned, there is no delta ring sticking out.

So for the really cool look you need to get the "M" version and cut off the delta ring.

I think you can get an ARMS back up iron sight that is designed to fit behind the SIR rail and will work with your standard front sight. There looks to be one on the rifle in the second photo you posted...

It might be the ARMS #40 rear sight.
No, I don't think I'll ever get over Macho Grande.

do you know if that red dot scopes get in the way though? or is the logic to remove them if they fail? i was under the impression that you look through them with iron sights when if and when your batterires die. what do you think, i guess i could just pop it off.

i can't decide on eotech or aimpoint.

by the way, how do you cut it off?

You have to Dremel off the Delta Ring ever so carefully. If you mess up the barrel nut, you may be SOL, so cut slowly and keep checking your depth.

If you're planning on running an EOTech, you're going to need the #50 (bi-level) and not the #45 that you've got pictured.

The #45 will position the EOTech high enough where it will block your iron sights.

The #50 drops down slightly in the front over the barrel and positions the EOTech where it'll do a lower 1/3 co-witness with your iron sights.

Whether you go with the M or C version is your choice. Depends on whether you want to remove the delta ring or not.

thanks. can i use the #45 with the aimpoint? i'm not sure if i like the bi-level. i think it will put the eotech too far forward. also, is the C version as bad as he mentioned. is it not very clean? i hate cutting or drilling anything, mostly cuz i suck at it and can see myself screwing up a perfectly good gun.

Anyone have a pic of the C unit?

that is very nice. i think i'm going M. and aimpoint looking pretty good too. by the way, at what position does your iron sights sit in the scope. and is that an ARMS lever release mount that the scope is sitting on?

does anyone also know the purpose of a delta ring other than holding the plastic handgaurd?

The flip-up rear sight is an ARMS #40L SP. The Aimpoint red-dot sits just on top of the front post. The Aimpoint mount is an ARMS 22M68 (no riser needed because of the S.I.R.).

Sweet! I might put something like that on mine, but it came with factory free float tube that is a pain to take off (and so is the brake, I hear from Tony Rumore). Instead, I just put a rail on the tube. I see you place your Eotech same place I do.
