Going to optics on many rifles now since my senior citizen vision with iron sights isn't what it used to be. I ordered this GG&G scout mount since it has a channel down the mount that still allows use of the iron sights. With a +0.5 diopter in the rear aperture I can still manage irons to 50 yards. May try a red dot on it also but been there done that with ARs and the 2X magnification with fine cross-hairs will give me longer range, maybe 300 yds.
Already loaded ammo last weekend waiting for the mount to arrive. Set it up after work today and will try it out this weekend. The mount extends farther back than the original Springfield design so mounting a standard eye relief scope is also possible.
