You think the rifle is expensive...the ammo is just as cost prohibitive at $6 per round.

.338LM is expensive mostly on the brass side, but compared to .50BMG it's not overly pricey. With an ELR caliber like that you should be handloading anyway and costs can come down considerably as quality brass can last several loadings. Stepping up a bit to .408 Cheytac is far more expensive on bullets. With .338LM you can shoot a wide variety of standard jacketed bullets vs the required CNC-lathed solids.

Soon Hornady will release their 338 LM case. They make loaded ammo now. I'm just waiting for Midway to start stocking it. Hopefully, they are half the price of Lapua brand.

As I posted the other day my friend picked his 98 Bravo up from Rettings a few days ago -- but he;s in Ohio until Monday so I can't see it til then.

He did however reveal that a 308 will be coming next year -- Bolt action legal and AR-cool looking.
I'll wait for the 308...
