    Semi Auto M249 SAW legality

Good Morning all, I am a huge belt fed fan and have a 1919a4 and I'm in the process of building a M1919a6. Ive always been a fan of the SAW, was a SAW gunner in the Corps. All that being said, if I install a brake on the Semi Saw it should legal correct?

And a bullet button. I have seen a few here and there for sale. Usually around 8 grand. They only last a few days.

Considering you have to disassemble the action to start a reload, I don't see why it wouldn't be legal.

Why does it need a grip wrap? Im an experienced welder, Id be ok with spot welding the flap for the magazine in a few spots, bam now you cant use a magazine (thats a jam session anyway). Now its pure belt fed that needs to have the action open.

Here's the hilirous part. I've seen them for sale with "100 single shot links". So you can link 10 rounds together ten times, and you still meet the ten round mag limitation.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, you're doing it all wrong.

Some people have legal high cap belts and links. Some people take them out of ca to shoot.

Belt can't be removed without disassembling the firearm's action.
This is different than opening feed cover.
There's also the fact that parts of the ammunition feeding device (belt) removes itself, when it's fired, without disassembling the firearm's action.

                  Bottom line:
Starting 01-01-2017, in order to be CA legal, it needs to be featureless or registered as an assault weapon.

Thank you for the clarification. I just re-discovered the DSA RPD Carbine. I might go that route, but like you said Ill need to get the wrap.

I must be the unluckiest one with bad timing. 3x I signed up for the email notification from RifleGear and always missed it by minutes or hours. So I contacted a gunshop in SD and he said he wasn't going get anymore in before the end of the year only to email me back a few weeks later asking if I still wanted one. Now Audiophil's got one...?

Eventually, I found a Cali friendly dealer in OK that had one in stock at a decent price.

And you can make it into an illegal ammunition feeding device in 30 seconds, and have fun destroying the evidence 10 seconds later! Try that with a box magazine.
