    Thoughts on EOtech XPS2-0

Thinking about picking one of these sights here soon, would be my first purchase of sights besides the MBUS. I've been doing some research and it looked like the previous models had problems with the way the battery mounted, curious if anyone owns the newer model and can confirm this has been fixed by the now side mounted battery.

Should I go for this sight or or do you guys have other reccomedations I should look into?
    Max Budget is around $500-$600.

May want to do some more research on problems with Eotech although they primarily had to do when in harsh conditions like high heat or cold.

If you arent saving lives why not buy a TRS25, Primary Arms, or even a Holosun if you like the circle dot. The XPS2 is a solid optic but people hate on them now and most people turned them in for a refund. If you want to spend a lot, buy an Aimpoint.

You'll find that most people returned them to Eotech during the buyback only because they had a problem with the principal of the issue/potential cover up rather than an actual issue with the optic. Others just had it for awhile and wanted to try something different.

I personally love mine and haven't noticed any problems. My AR with XPS2-0 is my favorite to shoot. Not sure if it's newer or older gen regarding battery though.

As long as your not kicking in doors in 130 degree temperatures one day and in Antarctica the next day they’re fine.

I’ve enjoyed mine even though the reticle is fading because of moisture incursion. I did get a return authorization from Eotech for a full refund but I like mine enough I'm planning on sending it to them for an exchange.

Read up a little more and Up in NorCal I really don't see myself going anywhere that would expose the sights to extreme temps so I don't see the sight shifting being a problem. I've read more good reviews than bad. Most of the bad are just people worried of the possibility of an issue rather than actually experiencing an issue.

They do break. The mirror glued at the top has broken off on 2 for me. Do not use on a shotgun.

I really like my Eotech XPS2-0...thought it was a great optic...but my astigmatism got worse and the dot was distorted. I didn't know which side of the 'banana dot' to use to aim.

That said, I turned mine in because they basically devalued my optic with their fumble and I was going to get stuck with a 1/3 - 1/2 value optic that my eyes couldn't decipher.

I bought a Vortex Spitfire 1x AR prism scope for $150 that solves the astigmatism issue....and pocketed the other $300. My paper targets don't know the difference

Have you actually seen the reticle in person?

It looks really smooth and crisp in pictures and ads but IMO it looks a lot jankier in person. Definitely try before you buy. Especially considering that the Aimpoint PRO is around $400.

I like my eotech but there are other options out there.

I liked mine a lot (xps3.0) But after a couple years the reticle randomly was so dim you could barley see it. They fixed it really quick no questions asked even after the warranty was years expired. After it was fixed it sat in my safe and when I took it out to shoot the reticle was super grainy and dotted. Everyone I asked to look through it said the same so it wasn't my eyes.

I took the plunge and returned it after I found out they were issuing refunds due to that law suit. I wish it didn't keep getting messed up. I'm a big fan of eotechs. Ide get another one if i knew it wasn't going to get messed up down the road.

                          1) Eotechs have one of the largest field of views
                          2) Battery life sucks
                          3) Reticle is supposed to be grainy! It's made up of thousands of tiny laser dots
                          4) Temperature difference will not affect 99% of all civies
                          5) I returned mine not because of the potential thermal drift, but because a) I've had two Eotechs where the reticle fades in specific areas of the window and b) I choose to avoid companies that are ran by people are willing to mask the truth and put our troops in harms way in order to make a buck.

Yes, they are great sights. Yes, they have terrible battery life. Yes, they have the best reticle out there. Yes, they have issues with disappearing reticles.

Lots of options out there. If you want more than a dot for a reticle, then an eotech will serve you well. For something more rugged and reliable and has battery for daayyyyyzzzz, aimpoint wins hands down.

Being in Socal I never see extreme temperatures. Well desert heat maybe.. Still had problems with dimming but eotech just fixed it no problem. Great turn around all. Bright as the sun now. Very happy. My other rifle has an MRO and I like it better but it is much smaller. Both serve their purpose but wouldn't change either. Great products from grwat companies.
