Just for punching holes in paper I like the PMC Bronze in 55 grn. Oh wait, that is .223. Are you stuck on 5.56? I have not shot enough 5.56 to have a favorite.

No not so much stuck on 5.56. Cabela's had .223 in stock and ready to ship, but for some reason wouldn't let me order 5.56 so I just thought I'd ask for some recommendations on what you guys shoot and where you purchase from.

On the other hand is there a noticeable difference in the "punch" from .223 to 5.56? Don't want that air soft gun feel lol if that makes sense.

Accurate guns are more interesting and accurate ammo increases performance. There is a lot of substandard ammo being sold. Sample as many different offerings as possible for accuracy before making power buys.

        Or learn to hand load.

If Ammogeddon comes, learn to hand load anyway.

          For plinkin'

I've shot more than a few thousand rounds of wolf and or reloads, with only a handful of bad primers - that's all.

For decades bought from Miwall at shows/their warehouse, and Freedom munitions as of last year via mail.

Im frugal and buy a couple 1000 at a time, which is not a lot. To me more shooting for less $ is part of the fun

Still have to get into reloading... it's on the list

5.56 NATO and 9mm is what I'm looking for.
No experience with 5.56 yet but 9mm I've found myself liking Blazer and Federal for the price.

That depends. I still like to try for marksmanship. Rack grade ball ammo is not that accurate...

I'd rather hit the x ring, than just hit the target

I'm only buying ammo right now, wish I had the space for a reload setup.
What should one expect the initial investment be for decent reload equip?
