Just got a UPS tracking email from Krieger Barrels for my 6.5 Grendel 24" VarMatch barrel. Been waiting 5 months for this so I can finish my Grendel build. I have pretty much everything else except for the free float forend, gas block and gas tube. For a bench/target rifle, Krieger recommended that I leave the barrel simple. So, there's no fluting and it's not threaded.
Additional parts to this build are:
PRS stock
VLTOR MUIR-1A upper reciever
VLTOR MODPOD MP-1 side mounted bipod
Parallax Tactical TiN bolt carrier
Underground Tactical 6.5 Grendel II bolt
Precision Point Firearms lower receiver
White Oak Armament lower parts
Jewell AR-15 trigger group
CAA Pistol Grip w/Stand
I have been looking at a lot of free float forends and can't figure out what kind of look I want to go for with this build. Although, I do want something that looks good with a 24" barrel. The one that I thought would work with this build is the Badger Ordnance Free Float Tube Handguard, but they don't seem to make it anymore. The Diamonhead VRS is nice, but I have that on my carbine build. I would like to leave quite a bit of the barrel exposed, up to the gas block. If anyone has a suggestion, I would appreciate it.
