    Big 5 Ppt BIG PROBLEM

I completed a ppt with another calguns member for an m1a socom ebr on 5/9. Went in today because I forgot my range card in my rifle bag the store is using to hold said rifle. So the manager says "Can you have your friend come in to sign some paperwork he forgot to sign or else we can't release the gun to you" Ummm what? I explained the calguns memeber lived abot 60-70 miles and this was their employees fault for not being well versed on the private party transfer procedure. They said it was not their fault but the DOJ's...Umm what???? I told them they need to compensate the other party for his drive and their mistake and the manager was EXTREMELY rude. I have actually had this same problem happen at this same Big 5 but I was the seller and they called me back 6 months later for a signiture after the gun was released. Anyways.... can they legally hold the firearm if I already have a DROS release date and time? Who should I call DOJ? Customer service? Any positive advice is appreciated.

Why the hell would you go back there if you've had this problem before?!?!

Hope it all works out for you though

Contact the seller and let him know whats going on. See if the seller lives near a Big 5, maybe he can sign the paper work there and fax or mail it to your local Big 5. Or if they want to mail the paperwork to the sellers Big 5 and have a manager watch as he signs it... I don't know though, you may be in a tight spot even though you did nothing wrong - Aside from using Big 5 again after they failed once.

Using Big 5 to PPT a firearm is like getting your car tuned up at pep boys. A place run by high school kids. Big 5 told me they won't PPT handguns because the no longer sell them. Big 5 wouldn't transfer a saiga because it was on the ban list. I'll never spend a dime in that chain. I hope in this situation it all works out for you. Live and learn... This time I hope.

I would have told them I dont know the seller and they should contact him them self. No reason you should get involved. Going through corporate might take too long. Go to the store and ask for the store managers name along with the contact info for their district manager. Speak with the district manager and let them know, you have nothing to do with the seller and its their responsibility to contact the seller...... not you.

Again... positive helpful advice is appreciated. Chiming in to say Big 5 sucks does not help anyone

^ That is good advice. On my DROS I have a pickup date and time so the firearm in legally mine correct? No reason for them to hold it.
I would love if the librarian could chime in.

Try asking question in FFL forum

Am not sure if I should wait until pickup date and be either SOL and raise hell. I am not sure how to go about this, Manager claims "well if we cant get his signature then the deal might fall through"...uh what?? Deal already went through, as far as im concerned the bckground check went through. No hold on my DROS and I was issued a pick up date and time. Other than calling a regional manager on how this store has poorly trained employees should I call DOJ? I cant imagine they would be helpful. Can I call police for this establishment holding my property?

i was under tgethe impression that the firearm is legally out of the sellers name and into yours at time of dros. I have been given paperwork stating either you are now responsibke for this firearm or you are now not responsible and no longer regisrered this firearm. the only thing that can happen withour his signature is seller could try saying he never signed the release therefore he never sold the gun to you which is another issue for down the road. They cannot tell you the deal will fall through as the deal is done. You are only waiting the required ten days now. If it was me i would probably call doj.

Exactly what others have counseled me. Deal is done, DROS is done. I am just waiting the 10 days. So they are obligated to release the rifle to me on 5/19 correct?
