    Scope Slippage. Seeking Advise

I have a .308 Tikka rifle with factory rings. I put a Bushnell 3200 on it and it slips. The scope moved about 1 inch forward after 200 rounds. I checked to make sure that the screws were tight and they are.

Anyone else have this issue? Any advise? Maybe crappy rings?

What kind of rings are they? What size? and what torque do you have them at?

Take off the scope, make sure your rings are free of oil and solvents, same for the scope tube. Put your scope back on and torque the screws to 15in/lbs

I have no way to measure torque.
The rings came with the rifle. Brand unknown.
Someone told me to put some double sided outdoor adhesive tape inside the rings. Silly or not?

Tape is not silly, but two face tape is too thick -- try plain old cellulose (scotch) tape -- Don't raunch the screws down so tight you strip the heads and make sure you have the top ring equal so you don't tighten it up unevenly. slight gap on both sides --

Crappy rings.... waste of ammo.... *sigh*.... 200 rounds may cost like $200.... lose setup = not able to hit anything consistantly = waste of ammo = waste of money...

Buy some "quality" rings... install them correctly and they WILL NOT move...

I bought the scope at Sportsmans Warehouse and they mounted it. Guess that's like taking a Mercedes to a bargain mechanic.

I'll have to find someone in my area that can do it right.
