Ok,
I decided to build my very own AK (7.62x39) and get a PSL/Romak. I am thinking about going with a Saiga stock on AK (no pistol Grip) and a custom-made laminate CA-compliant stock on the PSL. Where do I get a quality AK parts kit and which ones are the best (Polish? Bulgarian? Hungarian?) I could care less about looks, but I do care about having a mint bore and the that functions flawlessly, exacly like an AK should. As for PSL, I'm figuring an RPK receiver from NoDak and a quality parts kit will make for a nice 7.62x54R semi-auto. Has anybody heared anything on the legality of a re-stocked PSL in CA? I have heared that CA DOJ considers them AW "because the rifle was originally equipped with thumbhole stock and removal of AW feature does not make it a non-AW". In my book if it's not banned by features and not listed - it's legal, but I would hate to have to go to court and have to shell out hundreds of thoursands on lawyers over this stuff. Does anybody know whether NoDak RPK/PSL receivers are 1.0 mm or 1.6 mm thick? The russian RPK receivers are 1.6 mm thick, so are the original PSL receivers.
P.S. I almost feel like contacting the manufacturers in Roumania and asking them if they could make a Californicated version of PSL. I do have some connections in Roumania.
