    CZ 527

Santa decided I get a pass this year. So he bought me this rifle little carbine in 762x39. Single set trigger, light weight, cheap to feed, pretty even. What's not to like? Looking for suggestions on glass and mounts. Haven't felt this giddy around christmas since I was child.

Might make for the perfect backpacking rifle

The 7.62X39 is fine for deer and pig at moderate range and those things seem very handy to carry and shoot. Let us know how it shoots.

Handloaded with 150's it should be able to go 200 yards for deer and 500 yards for target shooting with a good target scope.

        CZ Model 527 Carbine 7.62 X 39

        .
Mines chambered the same. It's a great little carbine. Using only the irons and with my elbows resting on the concrete bench at Angeles I can hit the 200 yd steel 3 out of 5 rounds consistently.

I'm going to scope mine eventually... with a $200 Leupold. Don't need much more than that. I shoot factory rounds and don't expect to be able to accurately reach much farther than 250 yds (although I have literally *lobbed* a few rounds out to 600 yds just to see if I could get close)

Before I made the decision to commit to this rifle at the end of my 10-day back when, I did some reading; those that had owned the gun said it was one of their favorites! and those that had sold theirs regretted it.

        :-)

I have the 527 Varmint in .223. These are great rifles. Love CZ.

Welcome to what seems like a very exclusive club. First question, where the hell did you even find one? Unicorns are sighted more often. I have had mine for about 2 years now and put a Redfield Revolution 2-7 on it. All little overkill maybe but finding a scope to fit because of the bolt throw can be a bit of a pain. The rings that come with the rifle work fine and hold well. Quality ammo shoots well, I took a pig at BHCR when I had just got it and it died just fine.

One thing to bear in mind for accuracy is that the barrell is designed for combloc 7.62 not American 7.62 so it will shoot better with .311" bullets rather than .308" bullets.

My dealer is slowly retiring. He has had the rifle for about a year and a half. For my birthday he sold it at cost. I've read about issues with the bolt throw.(clearance) Looking for a small scope that will not clutter the compact size and weight of the rifle. Would a quick release mount work on rifle? Thanks for the input calguns. The women and kids hopefully will enjoy plinking with this little gem.

Yup - had one years ago, and sold it because I was trying to divest all my x39 guns and ammo, but it was a really nice gun and very accurate.

I didn't particularly like the magazine system - I would have preferred a Mauser-type internal mag where rounds could be top-loaded, but overall it was very nice.

Here is an older review by the Madogre that gave me good info.

I put a Burris 2-7x32 on mine and it fits great, no issue with bolt handle clearance.

Kind of like Bruce Jenner, but the rifle still has a bolt.

I bought one just to plink with cheap factory ammo, figured accuracy would be nothing to write home about. I was wrong, the thing is well under 1" @ 100 yds all day long with good reloads. I use Hornady 123 AMax.

I currently have a 2 to7X on it, probably Burris or Nikon - don't recall. Because of the much better than expected accuracy I'd like to up it to a 4 to 12X or so, but it is a small rifle and I don't want to put too large a scope on it. The Burris Timberline in 4.5 to 14X is pretty compact and I'm kind of leaning toward getting that.

I'd stick with the CZ mounts. Because of the bolt configuration your scope will need to sit high. I added a KickEeze stick on cheek riser and it's a great help. Put on properly it stays in place.

I don't use the set trigger, the regular trigger is fully adjustable. But, because of the trigger design (it's a two piece affair) the regular pull, no matter how well adjusted, isn't crisp - it can be very, very light though. Rifle Basix makes a one piece replacement, Cabelas had them for about $19.00 a while back which is about whatthey're worth. They work very well but are basically a 1 piece drop in version of the factory two piece.

I had the 527 carbine in 223 for a while but sold it because I really wanted the 7.62x39. I know have the Ruger 77/357 that has the 5-round flush mag which I like way better.

If you use Warne Medium height QD rings the bolt handle will hit the scope unless you modify it. I did mine myself and it turned out well. CZ sells replacements for about $30 in case you screw it up.

They are very nice guns, congrats!

Well I ordered 2 more mags from Cz customs. I don't know if the rifle comes with rings. But I did find this on their site.

Lucky for me, my dealer lives down the street from me.So i can go fondle the rifle before the waiting game is over.

                            .
Test your mag fit. I bought two more, too... and one of them sits too high, too close to the bolt. I need to send it back and get another. The culprit is how the pressed-outward tangs on each end of the magazine are ground.
