    Christensen Arms Ridgeline

Hi folks. I am a hair away from pulling the trigger on the ridgeline titanium model in 300 win mag. I will be primarily using it for elk hunting. Does anyone here have this gun? What are your impressions?

I have the non Ti version and my wife has one in .300 WSM both rifles have been top notch. I'm shooting 181 Hammers @3230 and 215 gr bergers @2950. I'm getting 3 rd groups 3/8"-1/2" and 5 shots open up to 5/8"-3/4" the gun shoots better than me I think. have my longest kill on this gun @464 on a antelope.
My wife got hers last year and were running 168 TTSXs through it. first load I tried came in at 3/4" so haven't done any more load work with it. She took 4 antelope with it last year from 218 out to her longest to date @361.

I'm planning on buying 2 more one in 6.5 PRC and one in .338 Lapua Mag.
CA gets a bad rap but Ive had no issues with them. Over on the Long range only site a lot of guys shoot them and have nothing good to say about them.

        Christensen Arms Ridgeline

It seems to be twofold. One, these ultralight magnums and such are a ***** to shoot; shooter can often blame the rifle. Two, pencil thin barrels of not absolutely, perfectly concentric and stress free, really tend to walk when they get hot. Big powder charges and paperweight barrels heat up in just a couple rounds. These two combine to make up the Lyons share of issues.

Long Range Only is literally the name of the forum. https://www.longrangeonly.com/forum/

            It's not the "hide"

I really like mine. Its a 300WM. I literally only use it for hunting and check the zero once a year. I have taken a elk and three deer with it. They're great hunting rifles.

I’m in my ten day wait period for a ridgeline in 280 Ackley. I have quite a bit of 280 I can fireform brass with. I’ll let you know how it shoots after I break it in

Just got back from Wyoming and chalked up 2 more muledeer does with my .300 Win. Mag. one at about 200 yards and the other at 435 shooting off of sticks.
My wife filled her 2 doe antelope tags with her .300 WSM one at 270 and the other at 314.
Thats 12 animals in 3 years on my gun with 13 rounds on my gun and 6 antelope in 2 years on my wifes gun.

These paticular guns the "Ridgeline" models are carbon wraped barrels.

I have a Ridgeline in 30-Nosler. I chose this chambering for the rifle because I was able to purchase 10-boxes of Nosler ammunition cheaper than just the brass. I’ve had the rifle two years and carried it backpack hunting in Alaska and California. Mine is shooting 1/2 MOA with the factory ammo, I haven’t had the need to reload for it yet. I have the dies and will start when I can get supplies. I will probably go with the “Absolute Hammers” that are now out.

The recoil on this rifle is less than my Model 70 in .308 winchester. The muzzle brake works wonders. I did upgrade to the Christensen titanium side baffle brake to save an ounce and reduce muzzle blast from shooting in the prone position.

The only downside to this rifle I can fathom is the “bolt lift”. It was pretty heavy out of the box. I had to work the bolt for a bit and put some compound on the lugs to polish them up to get that silky smooth cycling that I like. Quite frankly, I have seen this heavy lift as pretty common on all 700 actions and clones.

I would definitely buy another one. If they offered the 30 Nosler chambering in the “Modern Precision Rifle” I would have it on order right now.

A downside to Christensen is they only offer the 1:10 twist rate in their .308 barrels. It would be nice if they had a 1:9 or even a 1:8 to stabilize the heavier Hammers.
