I picked up my Rossi 357 levergun today.
It appears to be a winner.
Even came with a box of 42 rounds as the original owner had only fired 8 of them.

Anyone recognize the style of this price tag?

Is that Turners or bass pro/cabelas?
The rossi box is priced with the same type of label so I am betting the first owner bought them both at the same place, probably when he was picking up.

Huh! It's a shame the prior owner didn't take to -not only one of the best firearms values in history- but one of the most fun to shoot!

R, where's a photo or two of the gun?

I just started reading this thread.

Is admission contingent on owning a lever?

          I've got Savage 99s, Winchester in 30-30, and now a Ruger/Marlin Trapper in 45-70.

Sadly, no pistol caliber lever rifles...but I DO have a Rossi Ranch Hand in .44 mag, haha!!
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
          Come on...what harm??

Works for me. Going in for some minor surgery tomorrow - hopefully it won't be a memorial shoot!
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

As our esteemed colleague bigbossman has noted,

You're in, as far as I'm concerned.
To which I wholeheartedly agree. Again, please refer to what BOBGBA has quoted from the now-distant past... and you will find yourself already added.

                    Welcome aboard, sir.

Maybe I should have posted this in the handloading forum, but I thought someone here might find it interesting. Took my new to me 1894c Marlin out today and chrono'ed a few loads

                        170gr cast - 6 gr BE86 - 1239,1238,1237 fps
                        158gr xtp - 13.5gr 2400 - 1633,1597,1585 fps
                        158gr xtpfp - 17.3 gr Lil gun - 1920, 1910, 1901 fps

                        2 - 3" groups at 100yds with jacketed
About the same at 50yds with the cast.

I did not work up the loads for groups, they were just what I had on hand. All in all I'm happy with the results.
Didn't shoot the cast at 100 yrds, but will another day. this one has a microgroove barrel, so Im'm happy so far.

I'm a big fan of the XTP and 2400. I'd have to look but I think I run them a lot hotter. But then I mostly shoot em through model 92. Not that I'd shy away from the 94.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.
                          Happiness is a warm gun.

It was too pretty to lay on the ground where I take most of my firearms pictures!

How about this Galil that i built today?
It's someone else's so I will lay it on the ground...

Me, too. I shoot the XTP over 2400 in my 32-20, and a Speer HotCor JFN with the same powder in my 25-20.

The Speer's are discontinued, and I'm down to my last thousand or so. Too bad, they are a great bullet.
