        You got.a.deal of a lifetime.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Looks like maybe an 80's model ADL if there is no bottom plate. Chuck the iron sights and get a scope.

There should be a date code on the left side of the barrel - letters, just ahead of the receiver. A lookup will give you DOM.

I'd say it's a Remington ADL. The "checkering" is actually pressed in, quite a few companies used it as a cost saving method from the 60s to the mid-80s over conventional checkering before economical machine checkering was developed.

Easy to mount a scope on it. Any two piece for a 700 will work, if a one piece be certain you get the LA type.

Yep, 700 ADL. I have the same rifle in the same caliber. I was a gift from a friend long ago, and has accounted for many deer.

Easily worth 3 times what you paid. Good Catch.

NO, KEEP THE IRON SIGHTS, find a decent optic and use QD rings. You have an excellent hunting rifle, and the ability to switch to a backup sighting system if/when the optic becomes unusable. The only other thing to do is find a decent shooting sling, and you are all set.
Your ADL looks to be early 80's. Can you manipulate the Bolt with the safety on? If not, it is one of the earlier versions.
Those tend to be very accurate out of the box. The .270 Winchester is plenty adequate for most big game hunting, and still very popular.

Nice. You got it for a song.

I have one very similar. Mine is 7mm rem mag. Same stock. SS barrel. Made in 67 iirc.

                          KEEP THE IRON SIGHTS!

Bolt action rifles with iron sights are very rare these days. You can put a scope on it and the irons won't interfere.

I'm strictly an iron sight rifle guy. I rarely meet anyone these days who can shoot iron sights. It's like it's a lost art!

                          Anyway, keep the iron sights!

No. Shooting irons is not a lost art, and you arent special because you choose to only shoot a specific type of sighting system. Its not rocket science, people that define it as such overcomplicate it like its some secret black magic. Its proven to be slower than a red dot, and less useful at extended range than a good magnified optic.

Remove the sights both will interfere with the scope unless you install super high rings and then it will hard to get in line with the scope. The sights come off with two screws. The myth with irons is the same as a 30-06 is all anyone ever needs.
