No, I'm asking for more general tips and tricks regarding precision bolt guns. The base has a built in 20moa, I don't think I need to bed or shim it based on what I presume is a very good fit between the base and the receiver and the built in bias.

    I apologize for being vague.

I gave my opinion and you are still asking for more opinions which tells me that you didn't value my opinion much if you have not already ordered the parts.

You need to figure out who YOU think the most qualified people are to listen to and then order the parts they recommend.
Listening to all the less-qualified opinions just makes it harder to decide, ultimately obfuscating the better advice you have already received.

I went with a badger ordnance base and badger ordnance standard height rings.

I got a Bell and Carlson M40 stock coming as well as the badger ordnance m5 dbm
Were there any thoughts, concerns, or criticisms with my setup? Any tips/tricks that I'm missing or would be useful?

For you to say that a 700 action could make you a HM, but not hang in LR BR is pretty offensive and is indicative of what you think about F-Class and its inferiority to LR BR.
There is a HighMaster in my list so it isn't what I think it is a fact.

I agree guys like the late Jerry Tierney, Peter White or Gary Childs shoot both disciplines well but you can't compare F-Class scores with Benchrest scores because the F-Class target is more than double the size of a Benchrest Target.

the real answer is none, especially if you are talking about long range BR. I would even say that shooting f-class for a BR shooter will make them better from a wind rea ding perspective. none of the guys who shoot long range BR who cross over to f-class do any better or worse than a f-class shooter. it's the wind that equalizes everyone. our guns do not shoot anymore different than a BR gun.

when you drop only 7-12 points total over 2 days, with (5) 20 shot strings, what more can you expect from a gun? my dropped points came mainly from wind calls. so let's say even half of those 11 points I dropped at the CA state were to vertical, that means 6 shots out of 100 slid into the 9 ring at 1,000 yards. and those vertical shots could have been conditions too.

You can shim bases to create slope, then ream/lap the rings to get rid of the misalignment that the shims created.
If you do NOT lap after shimming, then you can get scope tube damage.

Until recently I would only shim a one piece base which will not stress the scope tube. Last month I was talking to a Leupold tech and their policy is that it is find to shim a two piece base with up to three of their shims. I waited a day, called back and talked to another tech and received the same answer. If I absolutely have to I will now shim a two piece base.
