Dan Wesson PM7 vs Springfield MC Operator

A lot of people on here will vote PM7 when comparing to TRP (more apple-to-apples as 5ZS mentioned above).
I have the PM7 and love the way it shoots. I have not shot the MC Operator. The two are also also configured differently for different purposes. For example, the PM7 is more of a competition set up with the Bomar rear sight, while the MC Operator has a low, anti-snag rear combat sight. The MC Operator is also railed and the PM7 is not. It just depends on what you want. If you have shot the MC Operator and it suits you, then go for it.Comment

$1150 (MC) vs $1489 (PM7) at Riflegear, agree as others have stated above, more of an apples to oranges comparison.Comment

I have to agree...kind of an apples to oranges comparison. Do you want a stainless gun with target sights or a 2 tone gun with a rail and fixed combat sights?. I don't buy into the no MIM parts hype..... Would I prefer none? Yes, but I wouldn't pay extra for it. With hundreds of thousands of springfield guns out there.....I'm not hearing a bunch of stories of broken MIM parts. What I am hearing about is if you ever do have a problem......Springfields customer service is second to none. I would go with what features you want. I have a TRP, and I can't imagine a tighter or smoother shooting gun. It's everything I need, and I sleep fine knowing there are a few MIM parts in it.Last edited by tinman1975; 01-03-2015, 7:32 PM.Comment

this should be a Dan Wesson PM7 vs SA Trophy Match for a better apples to apples compare or a stainless non railed TRPComment

Dan Wesson (Valor)...I just got one several weeks ago....The trigger is better on the Dan Wesson as well as the fit. I compared it to the TRP side by side. Dan Wesson trigger won out!!!sigpic

Trp has aggressive 20lpi checkering. Takes some getting use toComment

I love my DW Guardian. When I play with my DW and SA side by side you can tell the DW is the more solid gun. You can go with the MC Operator if you want rails and fixed sights. You can get Harrison sights to replace the adjustable sight that comes with the PM7 if you want fixed sights.Comment

Save some money and get the SA MC Operator, it's an excellent choice.Comment

I have a TRP and a DW, I honestly can't see any difference in build quality and thing they're both fantastic. I know the MC is supposedly a step down from the TRP, but I'll bet you're really splitting hairs and I think this comes down to which one feels better in your hand, if you're going to use a rail, and which one looks better to you.
As already mentioned, you're really looking at two significantly different pistols so it's sort of an odd comparison. If I had no other 1911's I'd probably choose the DW between the two listed. If you're looking for something tacticool that matches the other stuff in you SHTF getup, then the Operator is the choice.Buy made in USA whenever possible.Comment

Same here, so much so that I'm considering selling selling a couple guns and jumping on the Riflegear deal. Left over cash will go towards a refinish of my ROC to match.**** your feelings!Comment
