Saw this article about the US Army's search for a new handgun. This particular story focuses on Beretta's entry into the competition. I found a couple of things interesting:
1. Beretta's design looks to be based on the original M9/92 model pistol, now named the M9A3 and looks pretty familiar. It's pretty interesting that they're basing their entry on the 40 year old design; what does that say about the PX4?
2. The Pentagon asked for designs for a "modular handgun system" and can be compact or subcompact of an caliber. It sounds like the Sig P320 fits the description perfectly, without much serious competition that I can think of in terms of modular design.
3. S&W is submitting an M&P for the competition. I wonder if they'll have an advantage as an American company.
