I had to switch to 9mm3 followers to get hollowpoints to feed reliably.

New Glock 17 Gen3 feeding issues

Thanks for your input. Have you had any issues with the 9mm3 followers feeding hollow points?
I am more than a little disappointed with Glock and their quality control. I was not aware of the follower issuers with their ten round magazines. Why does Glock even bother to ship magazines with the 2183-2 followers? I fired thousands of rounds out of 9mm Glocks before without a single operational malfunction until two days ago.Last edited by Libertarian71; 12-24-2014, 2:49 AM.Comment

I had the same problem with my Gen3 17. I called Glock and they sent me two followers for free. I too, wonder why the send the mags out with the older followers.MLC member.

Glock probably has thousands (millions?) of these bunk followers in circulation and / or in inventory. As some of us have noted, not everyone has issues with these followers, and sometimes they work ok-ish and sometimes they don't. It would be far more cost effective for Glock to let people complain and they replace followers on an as-needed basis, vs enacting some kind of product recall and swapping out everything in supply chain, disti, user base, etc. We all know this, a lot of guns are bought, shot once or twice, then put away and never used again. Much cheaper to let those followers sit and not be replaced than to stir up trouble by announcing an upgrade / recall.
My opinion only. Not saying their approach is the right one, but I can see it justified this way.

I have a theory about this, but it's just my personal opinion.

I bought a new Glock 30SF Gen3 recently, too. I notice that with it and the new Glock 17, I frequently get hit with brass-to-the-face ("BTF"), which also seems to be a well-worn internet topic. I like Glock, but it seems the quality control is not what it used to be.Comment

Hiya-
You are not alone in your problems with your Glock.
First off-Your particular problem (since they went away after a bit), could very well be 'break-in' problems...just the pistol frame, slide and magazines all getting to know each other.
Secondly-I would suggest to leave your magazines fully loaded for a week, or until your next range day, and see how it works.
Thirdly-My personal experience is to use 124 or 147 grain bullets. The Glock seems to function better and ejection seems to be more consistent.
See this extremely long-winded thread on problems with the G19, mostly Gen 4. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=962209
Bottom line with the above is that the Gen 4 G19 tend to malfunction with hollow points. Whatever your home defense round is, try a few boxes first and make sure you run the full magazine.
Followers: After trying the above, if your stock magazines and followers work, no need to do anything else.
If you're having problems, call Glock. They will send out replacement followers 9mm3. You *may* run into problems with those.
Last alternative is the 9mm6 followers. Note-you will have to do some modification to either the follower or to the magazine itself to make the follower fit.
Hope you get your problem resolved.
