Just started an SSE yesterday with all the paperwork for DROS.

I assume my 30 days starts from yesterday when I submitted to the DoJ?

If so, does that mean I can squeeze in more one more SSE by the 29th or 30th of December? If I do that, is it okay I take possession of the gun in 2015?

Yes, you should have one more slot if buying from a shop that will DROS up to 12/31

Get yourself on your FFL calender for that particular date. I gave myself a lot of days (15) to handle my last SSE, they are probably juggling DROS, but hey I guess they making good money this year right?

Just remember, you have to physically take possession of the firearm before it can be SSEed, so make sure you have ten days from when your dros is submitted (and often that doesn't happen until the day after you fill out the 4473) -- figure 11 days back from 12/31 and even that is pushing it. There's going to be a rush!!

DOJ has confirmed that DROS can start for SSE pistol up until close of business 12/31, and that means plenty of people are going to be picking up their pistols in January 2015.

OP - you have time to buy another one, but barely. Make sure you know what you want, better to pay for it way in advance to secure your slot. And be sure your FFL has the SSE parts for you on the day you come to DROS. The best way to insure this is to BUY from the FFL, and don't try and pull any dealer transfer action from an online seller. You have until 12/31 to start the paperwork.

If I were you, I'd go pay for one this week to secure your spot in line, and do the DROS by 12/31. Confirm with your FFL they will start SSE paperwork as late as 12/31, because not all of them are on board yet.
