Anyone have the change out period for Glock springs??
Anyone who would even suggest that Glocks are somehow superior to 1911s deserve to not know the difference. In short, they deserve Glocks.

      i hate the shok buffs

they work in my 9mm but kink the crap (ruin) the springs in my .45, it does not allow the slide to be removed/installed as one unit

        ^^ This.
Shock buffs are of no use except to ruin the timing and hold your slide from going back the distance it was designed for. Pure marketing crap. Avoid them like the plague.

I change the springs on my 1911's at 4000 cycles. I sense they would go double that, but they are cheap, so no big deal. 2K seems a little too conservative. I changed the shock buffer when I changed the springs on my TRP, so it is just part of the cycle.
I've owned 4 TRP's (1/2 & full rail) and none of them came with shock buffers.

Wilson also makes the flat wire, and they claim "testing has indicated that these springs have a service life up to ten times greater than conventional coil springs".

So, around 20K rounds usage. Good value vs buying 10 normal coil springs.

I personally do not use and would not recommend shok buffs. However, if you insist on using some, I suggest you take a look at the ones made by CP which seem to be much tougher than the Wilson made ones. I change springs on my .45 1911s about every 3500 - 4500 rounds. Never had a problem with reliability.
