Sigma trigger help

Picked up a used 1999 model S&W Sigma. Trigger is long and hard. (insert joke here)
What can be done to make the trigger more light and smooth?

an old thread here on calguns of "worst gun you ever owned/shot"... sigma was really well represented in that thread.....

Contact SW custom shop to see if they can work the trigger is probably your only option.

Apex. It is a decent gun once you get that trigger fixed. Reliable and points like an Irish Setter.

I have the same gun, outside of the trigger, its a good gun. It's a good backup, hd, office defense gun. Fires everytime you want it to.

-Remove pigtail spring
-Polish sear
These two things alone will make a huge improvement and cost nothing but a few minutes of your time.

There's lots of utube vids on how to clean up the trigger.
I don't recommend removing the center spring completely as some vids suggest.
I used a slightly lighter spring.

I have a first gen Sigma from 1995 and the trigger is not bad on it. When I got it I dry fired it a lot and it smoothed up eventually.

This:

The best advice you'll receive with regards to the function of your sigma.

Point your browser here ---> "http://sigmatrigger.com/" for detailed instructions (two youtubes) and come out WAY AHEAD! In time, effort and dee-nair-ohhhh. No reason to overspend when upgrading a low-budge pistol.

The stock trigger was less than ideal, but wasn't so horrible it rendered the gun useless for me. I was surprisingly accurate shooting it. After finding such a simple and inexpensive QUALITY modification that cured what minor "issues" it did have, I picked up another 40ve and a new/unfired 9ve. Both dirt cheap. Bang for buck, they can't be beaten.

My buddy bought one of those a few years back for a first gun. We went to the range and after a while he wanted to trade for a few rounds and when I shot it I was like holy crap this trigger is horrible ( to myself of course ) hahaha yeah definitely a would not own one. Cheaper was definitely not better in this case I tried to at least get him on board with a glock. Hopefully as mentioned above an Apex trigger might help good luck

The Sigma is an extremely reliable pistol. I had one myself. But the trigger is what it is.

You can get a trigger upgrade for it, but the big question is whether or not it's worth it.

I ended up selling mine and upgrading to something else.

One word...... Apexxxx!!!!!!!! Go to there website and get the striker spring /trigger kit. You can also Google or YouTube that sigma online and see many videos on how to make the trigger better.

im with the sell it and get a better pistol crowd

the trigger can be improved. my buddy has an older .40 sigma and he tried the pigtail spring removal and polishing the sear which made it a little better. then he got the apex kit and still the trigger is worse than a stock glock trigger, which is saying a lot because glock triggers kinda suck
