    Glock 19 Alternative

    Hey everyone,

I'm looking to add a new semi-auto to my handgun collection. At the moment I've got a SW686 Revolver and a Beretta 92FS. I love the Beretta, but I'm shopping around for a smaller frame polymer pistol.

I want to love the Glock 19, but it's just not working for me. The grip feels awkward and something is off. I'm crap shooting it too. I'd also love to find something that's a little bit more unusual.

Any recommendations for something else to look at? I'm just using it for target shooting, I'm not carrying it or anything. I'd like to stick between $700 and $1000 for a price. Thanks!

        Glock 26, or a Glock 17

In all seriousness though: Glocks aren't the most accurate gun out there, but if you can't shoot them decent you need to work on your shooting. Glock 19's work well, even if they don't feel good in your hand. I would argue that if you are shooting properly, most guns feel pretty similar while shooting. Picking them up and fondling them is another story.

Springfield XD's have similar features to a Glock. They add a grip safety, and the trigger is "better" if you don't like Glock triggers. You also don't have to worry about leading.

Also check out the HK USP. They are extremely accurate for service pistols.

Range toy? Have you tried the newer Beretta PX4 Storm? It should be pretty easy to rent one and try it out.

Yes, I had the chance to rent a Sig 226 at a range, and I really dug it. That's probably my front runner at the moment. The stainless finish variant is really nice. I have a Sig 516 rifle and it's fantastic.

No I haven't, but I'll look into that. Thanks! I've never actually handled any CZ handguns before.

Agreed on the accuracy. I think that my attitude towards the glock is spilling over into my proficiency with it. I like the USP! I haven't handled one in person, but I'll see if the range has it for rent.

I have actually - I was definitely better with it than the Glock. I liked the grip on it. That's a good call.

I'd say that I prefer the DA/SA pull, but I'm open
