Glock 21SF ambi not on list?

I was told on this board that the glock 21SF with the regular release and glock rail is on the approved list, but not the 21SF with the ambi release and the picatinny rail.
    Why not?
Does the one with the ambi release have a different model number?
Aren't they both just glock 21SF?

I know that when I went to register my 1st gen glock 17, it didn't matter what generation it was. Just said glock 17.

Did they make any other glocks on the approved list with the picatinny rail?

There are no approved Glocks with the picatinny rail that I know of.

The picatinny rail is different than the standard rail. Therefore, it's not approvable using the method that was used to approve the G21SF. Same with the ambi mag release. It's not the same mechanism, so it's not approvable using the method used to approve the G21SF. To get the other G21SF models approved, they'd have to have a mag disconnect and the Loaded Chamber indicator...

The only approved G21SF is the standard rail and standard mag release. Other models are LEO only...

For whatever reason Glock didn't put the ambi release/picatinny rail up for approval. If you were one of the lucky few to get a 21SF right out of the gates you might've legally gotten the ambi/pic 21SF. The gun stores caught on pretty quick though. I wanted that particular model and was in DROS when I got rejected. At least I got my money back. I decided not to get the "normal" 21SF. Glad I waited actually...now I can get a 30SF. Yippee!

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones since the G21 SF I rec'd had ambi release and pic rail.

            Just guessing here...

The 21 SF seems to have gotten ON the Roster as the functional equivalent of the 21 - no significant changes. (Still has to be paid to put on the Roster, but no testing required.)

It seems likely that the ambi-safety and new rail types made it look enough different (not saying this would be a correct evaluation, mind you) that it couldn't be added as a 21. If that were the case, those models would also have to have the loaded-chamber indicator and the magazine disconnect to qualify for the Roster.

Since I expect Glock understands the value and popularity of those "features", I suspect they have no intention of ever re-engineering Glock pistols to have them.

Don't try to make sense of the Roster requirements - the intent is to make gun buying more difficult, not to do anything a gun owner might identify as useful.
