30 Day wait is a good thing.

I have to say I'm starting to appreciate the 1 handgun 30 day rule. It has helped me with my impulsive nature.

I now have lots of time to think of my next purchase, and that enables me to compare different handguns and then shop around, thus maximizing my money and keeping me from just buying every piece that catches my eye, only later to find out I don't like this or that piece much. Then causing me to sell it at a lost.

Thank you Kalifornia, you do know what's good for me.

ppt's are exempt from the one-in-30 rule. you can always get a c&r and a COE to become exempt.

i understand your sarcasm. I dont agree at all though. You are a grown adult, and can manage your money yourself without the state limiting what you can buy.

The 1 handgun 30 day rule was designed to limit your rights.

Delaying your bad decision is just a side affect. I’m sure you can exercise your impulsive nature somewhere else.

You have to stop your impulse to sell!

I think the State has helped me with my impulse to sell also, by limiting the amount of transactions I can have per year.

Thank you again Kalifornia, it's like you know what's best for me.

LOL, uh huh. Gain some self control!

(Personally, I'm tired of having handguns sitting at my FFL for 30 days because the "one DROS per 30 days" BS!)

                Not busting your chops but,

This seems a little like the "I'll overpay on taxes (let the government hold my cash) so when I get a refund, it'll be like I saved my money" rationale. Let's not let the government do for us what we can do for ourselves.

To the OP...I don't mean to bust your chops. I get your humor, but I don't want anyone actually think government control like this is good.

Rent many different guns you want to buy while waiting. This helps greatly.

                    What did you just DROS?

I have to wait till Monday for my 30 day wait from HK P2000 to end, so I can start the DROS on my HK USP .45. WHich I paid for 2 weeks ago, so it will have been almost a month since I actually purchased it, till I can have it.

Of course this was a tongue in cheek post. I don not agree with the 30 day wait rule at all.

I will say that it has forced me to really consider what I want, because with the ability to only purchase 1 new handgun every 30 days, I want to make sure that I choose a piece I will be happy with. So it has made me a more informed buyer, in that there is no more impulse buys.

It has also opened up the used gun market to me, before this was something I would have never considered, not a snob, just never considered it.

So yes in a weird way, it has made me a more prudent purchaser.

I STILL DO NOT AGREE WITH IT AT ALL!!! More rules to treat law abiding citizens like children.

I can live with the 1 handgun per 30days limit but the 10day wait needs to go, especially if you already own multiple handguns.

I don't agree with the "one handgun per 30 days" law. Maybe it's a good thing for folks who can't budget or control their spending; but for others like myself who find a gun at great prices, having to pass on them or keeping them at my FFL dealer sucks!

I especially think the 10 day waiting period is absolutely unnecessary when you already own a handgun. I can see a day, maybe two for background checks, but all this BS about "cooling off" period is just doo-doo talk.

I do not see a need for ANY "cooling off" period. Go to a gun store, dealer calls in the NICS check, you pass, you pay, you go home with the gun.... That is the way is should go. Some states skip the NICS check if you have a CCW.

The NICS check was put in place for this very reason, for the FBI to make sure that you are not a "bad guy". No reason for a waiting period, other than making the CA politicians feel good about themselves for creating a solution for a problem that does not exist.
