    1911: Remington Enhanced VS Ruger

I will be buying a new 1911 handgun soon. I checked out the remy the other day and it was very price. I narrowed it down to the Remington and Ruger. Both in the same price range. How do the owners of these 1911s feel about them? Pros, cons?

When did ruger start making 1911's?

Go with colt, Springfield, sig, Kimber etc

Heard good things about the Rem1911, plus didn't they win a marine contract?

Read all the reviews for the Ruger SR1911 and the R1 Enhanced...there seems to be a pretty clear preference for the Ruger.

Ruger released their 1911 early last year, they started getting out in the world roughly April, 2011.

As for production 1911s go, Colts and Kimbers lack when compared (especially cost-wise) to a Sig Sauer or Springfield Armory.

No, Remington didn't win the Marine contract. Colt won a contract for a limited number of 1911s specifically for MARSOC. Remington recently won the M4A1 contract renewal over Colt.

I would choose the Remington, simply based on the fact that it looks a lot better than the Ruger. NTM, I don't like Rugers "treat your customers like they are idiots" billboarding that they do on their firearms.

But seriously didn't you know that the SR1911 is just as good as a Les Baer?

A friend of mine bought a Remington enhanced. That thing shoots the lights out. It's an excellent value. I'd recommend it without reservations.

I bought a used R1 enhanced a while back from another Calgunner. it has a lot of nice features for the price and is well made. I did replace the slide stop with a Wilson because the one from Remington was just a tade to short to work with the Chip McCormick mags I use in it. I also added a Wilson mag well. So far I have put 600 rounds though it and its been very good. I would get the Remington just for the added features, not a big fan of plan goverment models, not for actually shooting any way.

Heres a pic, sorry dont have a solo shot or more detailed.
