    Intrafamilial handgun transfer?

A few questions on the intrafamilial transfer laws. I am hoping that my dad will give me a couple of handguns, or what will be handguns once I'm done, one is a stripped 1911 frame and one a stripped AR receiver.

Since they apparently have to be shipped to an FFL retailer (I was hoping to take possession of them when I visited my family on the east coast), does the AR lower need a bullet button and 10 rnd mag?

Does the 30 day between handguns rule apply when I DROS them here in CA, or is it ok to do them at once since it's an intrafamilial transfer?

Does the FFL have to collect sales tax since these are gifts and have no sale price?

Thanks, and if there is anything I need to be aware of in this type of transaction please let me know.

The stripped receiver does not need a maglock.

Yes, the 1 in 30 days limit applies.

    No.

Make sure you make arraignments with your CA FFL dealer prior to shipping the firearms.
Make sure your father includes a letter with the shipment detailing your relationship (father-son) and the fact that the firearms are a gift.

The AR receiver is DROSed as a rifle, is it not?

I am planning to build the AR receiver into a pistol, so it should be DROSed as a pistol, correct?

          Correct.
Make sure the CA FFL dealer knows this and is willing to do so, prior to shipping.

IMO... In the gift letter state that it is an AR Pistol receiver.
