Girsan MC P35 CAL

For my birthday I treated myself to a Girsan MC P35 CAL from Turner's. It comes with x1 Mec-Gar 10 round magazine and while I waited 10 days to pick it up I ordered x2 additional Browning Hi Power 10 round magazines, with mouse trap ejector springs, from MidwayUSA. I also picked up x1000 rounds of Winchester 124gr NATO from LAX Ammo to complete the package. 10 days later I was off to the Firing-Line in HB to try it out. Over three days I put x400 rounds through gun with 100% reliability! The trigger is very heavy but has a crisp break and accuracy was very good shooting to point of aim at 45 feet. While cleaning I noticed not internal tool marks and overall the gun is snag free. As an added note Mec-Gar manufactures the magazines for both the Springfield Armory P-35 and the Girsan P-35, along with Browning Hi Power, the 10 round Browning magazines functioned 100% in my gun and the mouse trap feature popped them free of the gun when the mag release was pressed.

On some pistols you hardly even notice it. On a Hi Power, they are particularly bad not only as far as the trigger feels but the magazine does get hung up on the way out instead of launching out when the disconnect is gonzo.

That was the first thing I noticed on my new Echelon 4.0 C, the damn mags don't drop free because of the stupid MDM. I hate that, especially on a carry gun. The only one I didn't do myself and gave it to my gunsmith was the H&K VP9L. That one was really tricky with a couple of tiny, barely visible uncaptured springs that love to launch. I could have done the AR trick of working with it in a gallon bag, but I figured if I lost those springs, it would be a nightmare to try to track them down and buy replacements since H&K parts seem to be out of stock of everything, all of the time. All my others I have done myself. Even though it is nanny state mandated bullsheet, I don't really care about the LCIs, I never even notice them but the MDM really bugs me and it makes the triggers much worse usually. Stupid Commifornia.

Picked up the Girsan P35 as well, didn't like the 8+ lb trigger pull. Bought the BHSS parts kit plus tools, got it down to 2 lbs 8.5 oz. This involved removing the mag safety, plus refreshing nearly all the springs. Much better -- lighter and crisp. Slapped a Holosun EPS Carry on top, now I'm all set.
